Michelle Obama does push ups with Desmond Tutu, talks to kids about health in South Africa
The First Lady wasn't afraid to put her money where her triceps were.
Michelle Obama delighted children in Cape Town, South Africa on Thursday when she kicked around a soccer ball, participated in cathisthenics and then dropped to the floor to do push ups with Anglican Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
The First Lady broke a sweat in a bright print, inspired by her trip to South Africa and Botswana. The Nigerian-born designer Duro Olowy designed her green and yellow printed top, according to First Lady fashion follower Mrs.O.
The First Lady was in Africa as part of a goodwill visit, urging dozens of kids to make safe, healthy choices, beyond just diet and exercise.In Sough Africa, between 5 million and 6 million people live with HIV/AIDS, where in a country of just under 50 million. An estimated 17% of adult South Africans are infected.
"It's hard to have an impact if you're not in the best condition possible," she said, according to the Associated Press.
The First Lady visited many of the symbols of segregation and apartheid, including Robben Island, where former President Nelson Mandela was jailed for more than 18 years.
Her daughters Malia, 12, and Sasha, 10; her mother Marian Robinson; and niece and nephew, Leslie and Avery Robinson, 15 and 19 have accompanied on her trip to Africa.
