- Windows 8 is the basic edition of Windows for the x86 and x86-64 architectures. - Windows 8 Enterprise provides all the features in Windows 8 Pro, with additional features to assist with IT organization (see table below). This edition is only available to Software Assurance customers and was released on August 16, 2012.

Windows RT

- Windows RT will only be available pre-installed on ARM-based devices such as tablet PCs, and was named for the Windows Runtime (WinRT) development platform that Microsoft is introducing in Windows 8. It will include touch-optimized desktop versions of the basic set of Office 2013 applications to users%u2014Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, and support device encryption capabilities. Several business-focused features such as Group Policy and domain support are not included.

Windows 8 "N" Versions

- The Windows 8 "N" version is an edition which does not include a bundled copy of Windows Media Player. Microsoft was forced to create the special "N" editions of Windows after the European Commission ruled in 2004 that it needed to provide a copy of Windows without Windows Media Player tied in.

Windows 8 Pro VL, Pro N VL, Enterprise VL (Volume license) version

- Windows 8 Pro VL, Pro N VL, Enterprise VL (Volume license) version are edition which can use MAK (Multiple Activation Key) to activate.

The new WinPatrol v25 will track programs that have been installed on your system and will monitor the location Windows uses to store Uninstall information. Delayed Startup Programs

One of our more popular features is the ability to delay the launch of a Startup programs. Our recent sale generated a lot of new WinPatrol users who helped isolate a few bugs in Delayed Start especially on 64 bit versions of Windows. These bugs have been fixed so programs aren't lost and parameter are properly returned when moving a Delayed program back to its original status.

* Windows XP Kill Task

This bug only affected XP users and even reverting to our v18 code didn't help resolve a flaw preventing WinPatrol from killing tasks. It turns out Microsoft changed the value of one of the parameter masks used in a function called OpenProcess. The kill task function broke because we updated to newer Microsoft tools in our efforts to better support Windows 7. Sorry to the XP folks that it took this long to find. I can't thank Larry from Microsoft enough for his assistance. This is an important feature because unlike Task Manager, WinPatrol allows you to select multiple programs to kill with one click.

* Company Name, Details and Correct Path

One of the first steps in detecting a suspicious programs is the lack of a company name in its resource. On Windows 64 bit machines not all of the details of programs were available due to a bug I found and reported to Microsoft. It turns out a common Windows function called ExpandEnvironmentStrings won't always provide the correct path when represented by the environment variable %programfiles%. If you're using Windows 64 bit you probably noticed there is a "C:\Program Files" path for 64 bit programs and older programs are stored in "C:\Program Files (x86)". A correct path to your program is required to obtain details like a company name. We've worked around this bug in Windows.

* Misc Fixes

Anyone who has noticed that Scotty's ability to run on startup was missing will be pleased. There was in fact bug that removed WinPatrol as a Startup program. It wasn't caused by other programs, just programmer stupidity.

* Fixed Multiple Alerts When Startup Removed

One of the newest features of WinPatrol 25 is letting users know if a Startup program had been removed without their knowledge. Unfortunately, occasionally a bug appeared that once the initial warning appeared, WinPatrol continued to warn about the removal of other programs which still existed in the list of Startup Programs.

* Windows 7 Performance Boost

WinPatrol has always worked well with all versions of Windows including Windows 7, this version takes better advantage of performance ability available to Windows 7 users.

* Multiple Add/Remove Uninstall Entries

When checking the Uninstall list using the Add/Remove or Uninstall applet, WinPatrol may have retained previous versions. This version will remove past entries that exist.

* License Agreement Info

In the past the license agreement for various WinPatrol versions were not clearly stated and easy to find on our website. The new setup program includes a description of the Free, PLUS, Family Pack and special licenses. Users will now see how unique WinPatrol is and what few restrictions exist.

* Scotty Barking at Random

This has been a long time unexplainable quirk that never made sense. Reports of Scotty barking with no alert should be a thing of the past.

* IE Helper Enhanced

Some IE Helpers may have been missed on some machines. They will all now be properly displayed.

* Uninstall Enhancements

While we now have a stand alone WinPatrolRemove program, this version includes an Uninstaller that works much better than our past embarrassments. Improvements to the WinPatrol Uninstall program will now removed registry entries that gave incorrect screen positions when multiple monitors were used. We'll also remove any language packs which you may have installed in error.

* Explorer Menu Integration

While some users may still not have the full privileges, most users will be able to look up PLUS Info for EXE's and DLL's directly from the right-click menu on Explorer file lists.

6. Wait activation wizard message-Click OK.

7. Wait for wrong activation code message-Click OK.

8. Screen will appear with key file browse.

9. Browse to the key location and activate kaspersky.

10. Re-Enable your internet connection wait till fully connect to the internet and hit enter or ok.

11. Update virus definitions once/twice in a week to avoid key block problem.

12. Enjoy your Kaspersky Activation.

Kaspersky 2012 Version

1. Download and Install Kaspersky 2012: www.kaspersky.com

2. Turn off/Unplug/Disconnect your internet connections

3. Click "Manage License" From Right Bottom of Kaspersky, Then click "Activate the application"

4. Enter key: AAAAA-AAAAA-AAAAA-AAAA3

5. Click on Next

6. In the next window, click on Browse

7. Specify the path to any key file from the Key folder

8. Click on Next

9. After activation, turn on your internet connections
